Hair loss is something I never thought I’d experience so soon. Like many others, I first noticed it in the mirror — a slowly receding hairline and thinning crown that started affecting not just my appearance, but my confidence. I tried the usual fixes: thickening shampoos, sprays, even considered a hair transplant — but nothing felt right.
Then I discovered Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) — and decided to take a leap.
What Made Me Try SMP
I had never heard of SMP before. When I first came across it online, I was blown away by how natural and realistic the results looked. It wasn’t fake hair or something I had to maintain daily. It was simple, clean, and effective — the illusion of hair follicles tattooed into the scalp to recreate the look of a closely-shaved head or add density to thinning hair.
But what really sold me? Seeing real people share their experiences — and thinking, “That could be me.”
The Treatment Process
I was a bit nervous going into the first session, not knowing exactly what to expect. But I was immediately put at ease. The consultation was thorough — we discussed my goals, looked at hairline styles, and chose a pigment that matched my natural skin tone.
SMP is done in multiple sessions (usually 2–4) to gradually build up the density and achieve a realistic look. The first session laid the foundation, and with each session, the result got better and more defined.
The pain? Honestly, it was more like a light scratching feeling. Completely manageable.
The Results
By the final session, I looked in the mirror and couldn’t believe the difference. I had a sharp, natural-looking hairline and a fuller-looking crown. People started commenting — “You look younger!” or “Did you shave your head on purpose? Looks great!”
But more importantly, I felt like myself again. No more hiding under hats, avoiding pictures, or obsessing over mirrors. SMP gave me back a sense of control and confidence that had slowly slipped away.
Why I Now Offer SMP to Others
After seeing what SMP did for me, I knew I wanted to help others feel the same way. That’s why I trained and became a certified SMP technician — to provide natural, affordable, and life-changing results for people who are going through what I went through.
At my studio in Plymouth, Devon, I now work with clients from all walks of life — from those with male pattern baldness to individuals with alopecia or hair loss from medical treatments. I’ve been in your shoes, and I offer every treatment with the care, understanding, and attention to detail that I know matters most.
